Create a group ride and invite riders

Create a squad ride so your whole crew shares one live map, and invite riders with a QR code, a tap-to-join link, or an invite code.

    Tap Ride Squad. On the map home there are two buttons. Ride Squad is the outlined one, next to Ride Solo.

    Pick or create a squad. Pick one of your squads, create a new squad, or join a squad with a code. Whichever squad you rode with last time is already selected.

    Answer Where to? Choose Destination to ride to a place, or Record to just set off and log the ride. A squad ride with no destination is perfectly normal.

    Set a meeting point (optional). On a Destination ride you can set somewhere for the squad to gather before you set off, so nobody is guessing where the ride starts.

    Start the ride. Confirm to open the group ride. You are now leading the squad.

    Share the invite. Share the QR code, the tap-to-join link, or the invite code with the riders you want along.

    Ride together. As riders join, everyone shows up on one live map so you can see the whole crew.

Three ways to invite riders

From the squad you can add riders in whichever way is easiest at the time:

  • QR code. Show the QR code and let a rider scan it with their phone camera. It opens RideClan to a Join this squad? prompt.
  • Tap-to-join link. Share the link (it looks like ride-clan.com/j/CODE). Tapping it opens RideClan straight to the Join this squad? prompt.
  • Invite code. Send the short code and a rider can enter it in the app under Ride, Ride with Squad, then Join with a code.

Inviting a rider who does not have the app yet

If a rider taps the link or scans the QR code without RideClan installed, they are taken to install it first, and the app offers to join your squad on the first open. So the same invite works whether or not they already have RideClan.

If it does not work

If a rider cannot join, make sure they are on the latest version of RideClan and have a connection. Re-share the link, the code, or let them scan the QR code again. If the invite has expired because you already ended the ride, start it again and re-invite.

FAQ

Do riders need to pay to join my group ride?

No. RideClan is free to download, and everyone in the crew shows up on one live map. Just share the invite and ride.

Can riders join after we have set off?

Yes. Late joins land on the live map and are navigated to the destination, so they can catch up to the group.
